This past May, I took the plunge that no performer ever feels prepared for: supporting myself and my family on a 100% freelance income. The past few months have been some of the most exciting and stressful times of my young adult life; crunching numbers like crazy, a constant cycle of recruiting students, and promoting myself for every possible gig I could find. I am extremely blessed that I’ve been able to “make it” in the Cincinnati scene thus far, and look forward to a continued exploration of the many great opportunities in this area!
A few weeks ago, I also embarked on a new adventure: accepting a part-time staff position at Wilmington College as the Director and Consultant of the up-and-coming Quaker Thunder Pep Band. Just when I thought that the “first day of school” was going to be put behind me for a while… God has a sense of humor! This job has been a blast so far, and I’m thrilled to be working with a small group of dedicated and fun-loving students in Wilmington. In the meantime, I’m continuing to pursue freelance work and teaching opportunities in the Cincinnati area with equal emphasis! You can support us by following the group via social media, particularly if you’re in the Ohio area:
Recent performances from me include a show this past week with the KSO’s “Pops” Orchestra in Maysville, to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Maysville Community and Technical College! Coming up this weekend, you can catch me again with the KSO–this time at Devou Park for a Labor Day Weekend concert on Saturday evening at 7:30 PM. I am SO pumped to be sitting in the trumpet section with two Cincinnati legends: Dan Grantham and Matt Anklan! Come check us out for a program consisting of Broadway’s most exciting overtures.
Thanks for listening,
