Masterclasses and Residencies

Over the past ten years, Stephen has adjudicated, presented masterclasses, and conducted residencies at dozens of schools nationwide; his experience as a musician, recording artist, entrepreneur, music educator, and more make him an exceptional resource for those interested in learning about the creative arts.

Stephen can present on a wide array of topics and styles, and takes pride in his ability to connect with any audience–musical or otherwise. Those looking to have Stephen visit their community can choose from a variety of options and musical genres. Creativity in planning your event is both welcome and encouraged!

Chamber Music: As a founding member and General Manager of the award-winning Grand Avenue Brass, Stephen is a strong advocate of the joys and opportunities available to musicians that participate in chamber music. A variety of topics and activities are possible that include both students and community members:

  • Performing with student/community chamber groups

Marching Band: Stephen’s extensive background with marching band and the pageantry arts have led to various appointments as music director, assistant director, drillwriter, arranger, guest clinician, adjudicator, brass technician, and visual coordinator for band programs nationwide. Additionally, Stephen is particularly gifted in cultivating the musicianship, teaching abilities, leadership skills, and showmanship necessary of individuals serving in the capacity of Drum Major; he has coached Drum Majors for some of the nation’s premier collegiate band programs, including Kutztown University, the University of Toledo, the University of Illinois, the University of Iowa, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Possibilities for work with marching band include:
